Log Creations - Rusinko Construction

In the world of construction, there are many arenas to choose from. Sometimes you choose a specialty, or sometimes it chooses you. For Tom Rusinko, owner of Rusinko Construction and Precision Log Works in South Lake Tahoe, he chose the trade, but it seems that his main specialty chose him. A carpenter since the age of 16,Tom will be the first to tell you that he has had the opportunity to work with and learn from many talented craftsmen during his career. Over the course of the last 30+ years,
Tom has had the good fortune to be involved in the construction of many high-end custom homes here in the Lake Tahoe basin. You may also have seen his work on commercial projects such as Meyers Station or the remodel at the Crescent V Center.
While doing these and many other like projects,Tom gained experience working with logs. Recognizing logs not only as a construction material, but also an artistic media, things began to take him in different direction from the basics. While Tom says working with logs is not difficult, it can be challenging. Every log has it’s own "character", and knowing what you can make out of which log seems to be one of Tom’s specialties. For many years now,Tom has milled his own logs, enabling him to do almost anything his clients’ desire.
While custom mantles and stairwell & railing combinations seem to be the most common requests, a new trend toward using logs for millwork such as beams, casings & baseboards is emerging.
While many homeowners like the look of logs, they don’t want to be overwhelmed with them.
Adding the trim pieces and artistic log accessories can get a great & unique look, while still allowing for the mixing and matching of other media. Believe it or not, glass block and many types of more sophisticated tiles, marbles and granites work well with the log trims. Gone are the days when the only other stone used was "river rock". Another advantage to using log trims and accessories comes in the basic construction of a home.
The total log home is a construction challenge when it comes to running the electrical and plumbing necessities. By combining sheet rock walls, a great stucco texture, and the log trims, homeowners will have a great rustic look with the ease of accessibility for construction and any future repairs. So if you are looking for that something special in your new home, or an idea to make a remodel special, contact Rusinko Construction at 530-544-5443.Tom has the creativity and talent to make your next project a well-constructed work of art.
